Blog post #32-- "The Secret"

What does the following quote tell you about the city and society in general? "But you do know about genetics don't you? Sure I know all about genes. I knew two sisters, uglies, who looked almost the same. But parents and children? That's just weird."
Responce: Wow. I can't believe that, in a world of vast knowledge, the children don't even know about genetic traits. The plastic surgery has gotten so good, that no one even remembers that your children are suppost to look like you.
Predict what you think being "pretty" is.
Answer: Being pretty is being yourself. You were born pretty. Don't let society tell you what you are. Let you tell you what you are, and that is pretty. If you think you aren't pretty, then go take a good, long look in the mirror, and then try to tell me that you aren't. That's my perspective.

Blog post #31-- "Bravery"

Find an example of imagery, personification, and simile. Quote directly, and give page numbers.
Answer: Personification: "Her necklace, as tight as the vines, brush, and roots..."
Simile: "Like a walking poison, she killed everything..."
Imagery: "He turned up her palm to reveal her freshly blistered fingers..."
Does it require bravery to meet David's parents, why or why not?
Answer: It may have taken some courage. She may have been thinking that his parents would know if she was a spy, or maybe even snuffed her out. Yea, it may have taken alot of courage.

Blog post #30-- "Suspicion"

Do you think Shay has a right to be jealous of Tally? Why or why not?
Answer: No, Shay doesn't. She should be happy for Tally. She shouldn't be so selfish, besides, Shay was the one who had told Tally to come. Thus, she brought the whole situation into play, and who cares? Shay is only jealous because David doesn't take interest in her.
Tally Received a gift from David in the chapter that is special. Have you ever received something that made others jealous as this gift did? Did your gift have a meaning behind it as Tally's had?
Answer: More or less, no. In my family, my parents treat us equally. As for relationship wise, I don't recall.

Blog post #29-- "Heartthrob"

Why would it have been easier for Tally to activate the pendant when she got to the smoke? Explain.
Answer: It would have been easier, because she wouldn't have had time to fall in love with the smoke. Tally comes to find out that she's in love with the place. Not just with the place either, David. How could she betray everyone now?

Blog post #28-- "David"

If David's parents wer doctors, why do you think they ran away?
Answer: I think I'd run away if I knew that I was messing up evrybody's chance of thinking normally! Why in the world would anyone want to do that anyway? Are our minds to fragile to comprehend what we like and don't like, or what we can and can't do?
Support your answer with textual evidence.
Answer: The reason Davids' parents ran away: They would not bring harm to the patients. They also stated that the "Lesions" were most likely coming from to much anasthesia.

Blog post #27--"Work"

Find an image of a skyline like the one Tally sees. Post it. What is beautiful about it? Is there anything ugly about it?What's not to love about this skyline? It's perfect how it is. Look at the orange, pinkish haze the sun gives off from the mist. It reminds me of when Tally saw "The Smoke" she could see the smoke cover up the civilization below.

Blog Post #7 (Wipeout)

Question 1: Think of another movie, book, etc, in which people use hoverboards. How are they used?( IF POSSIBLE) post a video.
Anwer: Okay, I thought of the fantastic Four, rise of the silver surfer, because he's zooming across the earth on this magnetic board and sucking all the life out of the planet. The silver surfer never falls off of the board unless he gets off. This kind of reminds me of Tally and her hoverboard. Here is a link to a video I found of the silver surfer:

Question 2: Why do you think the new Pretties don't come back to Uglyville to visit?
Describe their Physical, and mental transformations into new Pretties.
Answer #1: The reason is because they now think that just because they are "pretty" they now live a higher standerd life than all other life forms. Keep away from uglies, and don't become ugly again.
Answer #2: Once on the operating table, the doctors strech and grind the bones into correct shape untill all parts are the symetrical. Then comes the facial atributions, the cheek bones are implanted and all fat is sucked away to shape a lean and cut face. Then the brain is cured of all ugly habbits including biting your nails. The others is forgetting completely about how you used to feel as an ugly.

Blog Post #5 (Best Friends Forever)

Question: Why do you think New Pretty Town advocates bungee jumping?
Answer: I think that they take it as a symbol of how they were almost as ugly as can be, then they were pulled back from being ugly, and were turned beautiful.

Years before the discovery of the land diving natives on Pentecost Island, a British mathematician named Robert Hooke was discovering the physics of bungee jumping. He began working as an assistant to the famous scientist Robert Boyle in 1653. However, it wasn’t until 1660 that he formulated and wrote down Hooke’s Law of Elasticity. In laymen’s terms, Hooke’s law basically tells us how much tension a spring can endure, and the maximum length it will reach. Hooke’s law can be used on any material that is considered linear-elastic, or stretching lengthwise. Oddly enough, rubber is usually considered non-linear, because variations of stress and temperature can have a significant impact on the elasticity of the rubber.

Blog Post #4 (Best Friends Forever)

Tally: Likes Peris, and wants to see him again because he hasn't been communicating with her. Shes out going and wants this friendship.
Peris: Obviously is to caught up in having to much fun being Pretty. He is a loser because he'd rather have looks then a friend.

I think that this friendship isn't really a friendship at all. I think that its a former friend thats trying to fight for her old friend to come back to her. This is not a true friendship because in a friendship, you need more than one person.

Blog Post #3 (New Pretty Town)

Question: Find and quote one oxymoron from the chapter or one example of irony.
Answer: I find that the toothbrush pill is an example of irony due to the fact that you have to swollow it.

Question: Why do you think that Tally chose to wear a mask to the party that was deemed "white tie"?
Answer: She didn't want the "pretties" to know that she was ugly.
_______________________________________________________________________________
Masks have been worn in nearly all cultures, for various reasons, since the Stone Age. Masks have been worn as a form of disguise, by an actor in a performance, as part of a religious ceremony, as part of membership in a secret society, as punishment for a criminal or in celebration of a holiday.
The comedy and tragedy masks have come to represent theater. These masks were first developed in ancient Greece and had both an entertainment and religious function. A similar tradition is that of the masked fool; a masked fool of some sort is found throughout many cultures and continents. The masked fool's purpose in theater was to keep order. The fool kept children from being unruly and distracted the audience from the dressing room or scene changes. In society, the fool questioned the status quo without the repercussions others might have faced.

Blog Post #2 (New Pretty Town)

Question: Have you ever had a friend like Peris who abandoned your friendship after moving? Explain.
Answer: It was in fith grade when I met one of my best friends. We would always hang out in class when we had "Dawg Time" at Ellisor. Then, 6th grade rolled around and we saw less of each other, but we still stayed connected. Then, his parents decided to move to Conroe. We would talk maybe four times a week, then three, then two, untill it was maybe once a month. After a while, we just stoped communicating. I never lost his number, but, I've also never just picked up the phone and called. So, maybe it wasn't just him that abandoned the friendship.

Blog Post #1 (Before Reading)

Question: How do you define beauty? What would the world be like if everyone was "beautiful"?
Answer to #1: I define beauty as a gift that we all have. Meaning, that everyone is beautiful in their own way. But you can be beautiful and not know it.
Answer to #2: It wouldn't be any different, due to the fact that everyone is already beautiful. You just have to take a good long look at yourselves and realize that you're beautiful.

I chose this picture for beauty because it resembles life, and all life is beautiful to me.

I chose this picture for what I find ugly because death is so horribly ugly and depressing, I just had to use it.
